PROJECT OVERVIEW
Infographic
Course Projects
In a Data Visualization course at Ball State University, I created a variety of charts, graphs, and infographics. I researched and compiled each project, designing in Adobe Illustrator. Here are three of my favorite infographics from the course.
The Design Process
Pitch to Professor
First, I chose a topic for my Infographic based on a course prompt. I gathered my topic, inspiration, and initial design ideas. I then pitched my ideas to my professor to gain approval to proceed.
Compiling Information
Following a successful pitch, I began conducting online research for the Infographic. I searched for credible sources and relevant data to the topic. I compiled this information into a document.
Draft Critique
I sketched a plan for how I would organize the information. Then I created a first draft in Adobe Illustrator. Finally, I presented my work to the class for a design critique, where I received feedback on my design.
Final Critique
After the critique, I would transform my draft infographic into the final product in Adobe Illustrator. I again presented the design to the class for their thoughts and feedback.

Women's History Timeline Project
This was my first design in the course, where we were tasked to create a timeline. I decided to challenge myself by creating a circular timeline, inspired by the female symbol. I organized the information around the timeline, working to ensure accuracy in my spacing and even amounts of information for each event.

How-To Infographic
Later in the course, we were tasked to design an infographic that explained how to complete a task in steps. I was inspired by National Geographic's signature black, yellow, and stunning nature images. I cut out the images in Photoshop and added texture, creating rhythm with their placement throughout the infographic. The final product is informative and matches the look and feel of my Inspiration.

Pandemic Toilet Paper Infographic
As my final course project, I decided to take a humorous approach to a personal question I had: Why was there a toilet paper shortage at the beginning of the 2020 Pandemic? I researched and compiled the information, pulling out statistics to find the answer. I had fun coming up with puns for the headings and allowing the subject influence the design.
